When you need to update the policy on your domain connected machine, open up a command prompt and type in:
gpupdate
Some policies do not apply straight away, so you might need to add the /force switch on the end.
gpupdate /force
Policies should be updated from the domain, you should now reboot your machine for all policies to apply.
